Other than normal airport customs laws, Dubai International Airport, enforces strict regulations on importing certain objects pertained as non Islamic material.

Prohit importation on the following items;

Firearms

Pornography

Religious material

Aniquities

Medications

Counterfeit & Pirated: cds, dvds, softwares,

The UAE is very tough on banned drugs such as Marijuana, cocaine and amphetamines.  If found, remnants of any of these in ones pockets can lead up to arrest and conviction of ‘trafficking’ even the smallest quantities.

Custom officers usually stop and search luggage at random, often asking some preliminary questions before picking on the typical scruffy backpacker or young male with hand luggage. 

As an added precaution it is advisable to contact the UAE embassy in your country to obtain a detailed list of prohibited items.
